GreenSign certification - focus on sustainability

Sustainability is a core value at the PIERDREI Hotel Hamburg. The GreenSign certification emphasises the hotel's commitment to ecologically, socially and economically sustainable practices. This certification is awarded by the Berlin GreenSign Institute and fulfils the requirements of the globally recognised Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).

Sustainable hotel industry: how GreenSign certification works

  1. Over 130 criteria from ten core areas assess ecological, social and economic aspects.
  2. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations serve as a basis.
  3. Inspection and audit: Following a comprehensive analysis of the data by experts, an on-site audit is carried out. The result is recorded in the certificate - with a degree of conformity of between 50% and 100%.

The GreenSign certificate gives hotels access to their individual sustainability barometer. This tool transparently shows performance in the ten core areas and provides recommendations for further optimisation.

The certificate is valid for three years and is renewed through regular inspections.

GreenSign: A global movement

GreenSign is a global leader: over 900 companies in 18 countries are already certified. The sustainability barometer that every hotel receives transparently shows the performance in the core areas - a valuable guide for improvements.
